Work in Progress: Kitchen Curtains

I think the nesting stage of this pregnancy has hit me because I want to do all the things I've been meaning to do since we moved in but couldn't from morning sickness. If I think about my mental list of things to do, I get overwhelmed easily, so I'm trying to stay focused on one or two projects at most. While hubby is currently in charge of fixing up the nursery, I am tackling the kitchen curtains.

It is a huge bay window that looks out onto the community pond so I'd love to make use of the view. The previous homeowners bought the cheap plastic shades that don't even fall the entire length of the window, so there is about a 10" gap where people can peek in if they wanted to. I decided cafĂ© curtains would allow the light to come in but still give enough privacy.

I searched for hours on Pinterest and finally fell in love with an inspiration photo I knew I could tackle. Made from modern laces, designer Angelica Leaf is the mastermind behind these incredibly gorgeous patchwork curtains. I love how romantic and shabby chic they are while still allowing the light to shine through. I knew I could find what I needed in my stash so I went on a fabric and lace hunt.

Of course, I had a particular helper throughout the afternoon who somehow managed to look adorable while hindering the sewing process.

So far I have about half of the window done so it shouldn't take long to finish this little project. I'm liking the way it's turning out and how the squares aren't all the same sizes, having a more organic feel to them. I can't wait to finally hang them up and see how it all looks!
